Night Blasts, Bombings Claims 20 Martyrs in Northern Baghdad

20 people were killed and 40 others injured in two separate blasts and sporadic bombings in north of Iraqi capital Thursday night.

Iraq: Kazimiya blastsTwenty people were killed and fourty others injured in two separate blasts and sporadic bombings in north of Iraqi capital Thursday night, security and medical sources.

Sources revealed 15 people alone were killed in the Kazimiyah neighborhood when a suicide bomber rammed his explosives-laden car into a security checkpoint there late in the evening. Minutes later, three mortar shells landed in different parts of the district, hitting houses and a bus station.

Police said 31 were wounded in Kazimiyah attacks, which is a major pilgrimage site that contains the shrine of two revered Shiite Imams, Imam Moussa Al-Kazim (as) and his grandson Imam Mohammad Al-Jawad (as).

Five more were killed in a booby-trapped car explosion in the neighborhood of Tbashi.

Nine others were also wounded in Tabashi attacks.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility, however, militants of the so-called 'Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant' are constantly targeting civilian neighborhoods in Baghdad.
