Iran flag"Iran is waiting for a visit of the Lebanese Defense Minister Samir Mokbel to Tehran, which is yet unscheduled, but it is very close. The DM is expected to list the needs of the army, and Iran will not skimp in providing whatever might help the army in its war against terrorism and in fighting off the Zionist violations," sources of the Iranian embassy in Beirut told local daily Al-Akhbar.

In turn, prominent parliamentary sources in March 8 political bloc said that "March 14 bloc has no argument to jam on the Iranian gift because the Army needs weapons, and the issue of sanctions is flimsy because the West talks to Iran everywhere, and Iran contribute significantly to the fight against terrorism, in addition to the fact that the weapons are for free and Lebanon will not pay a penny."

Secretary-General of the Iranian National Security Council Ali Shamkhani offered to help the Lebanese army on Tuesday.

During his visit to Prime Minister Tammam Salam, Shamkhani said that "Iran decided to give a gift as a token of love and appreciation for Lebanon and its valiant army, including some equipment that helps the army in heroic confrontations waged against criminal terrorism."
