"The military and police apparatuses need to be purged from infiltration by criminal elements who serve foreign interests," al-Houthi said during his speech, broadcast live on al-Maseera channel.

He said that security forces were informed of a deadly explosion which left 47 demonstrators from Ansarullah movement dead and dozens injured in Sanaa on Thursday, going on to accuse security officials of failing to prevent the attack.

Al-Qaeda's branch in Yemen has claimed responsibility for the massive suicide bombing.

"It became clear after the explosion that security in Yemen is a card [controlled] by foreign entities, and America benefits from al-Qaeda's presence in Yemen," al-Houthi said.

Al-Houthi's speech was featured on two large screens during a massive rally held by Houthis, for the first time in Sanaa, to celebrate Eid al-Ghadeer holidays.
