Velayati Visits Salam, Says Release of Abducted Soldiers

Velayati said that Salam gave good news before them about an imminent release of the abducted military men, with Velayati expressing hope that thsi release would be taking place tonight.

Salam-VelayatiThe Lebanese Prime Minister Tammam Salam met on Monday evening at the Grand Serail with Supreme Leader Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei's Advisor for International Affairs Ali Akbar Velayati, accompanied by Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abdul Amir al-Lahaan and Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon Mohammad Fateh Ali.

Velayati described his meeting with Premier Salam as "good, cordial and constructive," heaping praises on Salam's efforts for the release of the abducted servicemen.

Velayati said that Salam gave good news before them about an imminent release of the abducted military men, with Velayati expressing hope that thsi release would be taking place tonight.

"Lebanese-Iranian relations are cordial and deeply entrenched," Velayati said, saying that both countries deliberate on several occasions on an array of bilateral relations and regional affairs.

The Iranian senior official also hoped that a new Lebanese president of the republic would be chosen and elected in the near future, a president who would be enjoying the acceptance and approval of all the Lebanese parties and spectrum of the Lebanese people.
