Saudi Arabia, Yemen mapA Saudi border guard was killed on Tuesday by shelling from Yemen, the interior ministry said, the eighth death from Yemeni firing into the kingdom in just three days.

The latest bombardment hit security posts in Saudi Arabia's Jizan district at about midday on Monday, the ministry said.

Cross-border shelling from Yemen has claimed the lives of four members of the security forces and four civilians in the attacking country since Saturday.

Their deaths bring to more than 80 the number of people killed in the Saudi border zone since the kingdom and its Western and Arab allies launched a military intervention against Yemen in March.

In late October Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir indicated that coalition military operations in Yemen appeared to be nearing an end. This decision comes after the Saudi-US aggression forces and mercenaries received major blows from the Yemeni army and the Popular Committees.

Saudi Arabia has been striking Yemen for 250 days now to restore power to fugitive President Abed Rabbu Mansour Hadi. The Saudi-US aggression has so far killed at least 6,579 Yemenis, including hundreds of women and children.

Despite Riyadh’s claims that it is bombing the positions of the Yemeni national military, Saudi warplanes are flattening residential areas and civilian infrastructures.
