Lebanese Army Raids Syrian Refugee Camps in Tripoli, Arsal

Lebanese Army raided on Thursday dawn Syrian refugee camps in Arsal and arrested tens of Syrians involved in the attack on the Army.

Militants burned fire inside the camps before fleeing, but the Army was able to arrest some of them at an Army checkpoint.

Also, the Army carried out raids in Tripoli, particularly at Abi Samra Street where the Syrian refugees exist.

The Army Command - Orientation Directorate issued on Thursday the following statement:

"The Army units deployed in the city of Tripoli have been conducting, since this morning, raids of a number of locations to find suspects involved in aggressive acts against citizens and Army elements during the past few days. The Army managed to arrest 20 of the suspects, and seized in their possession quantities of weapons, ammunition and military equipment."

"The detainees were handed over, with all the seizures, to the competent authority to conduct the necessary measures against them," the statement added.


Army: One killed, two wounded in attempt to burn Syrian refugee camps in Arsal


"While the Lebanese Army was raiding camps of Syrian refugees in search for wanted individuals in Arsal on Thursday, three members on a motorcycle tried to burn a Syrian camp next to the first one. The Army immediately opened fire on them killing one person and injuring two others," the Army directorate said.

On another note, the Army continues its measures in the region and investigations were open to uncover the circumstances of said incidents.

Displaced Syrians raised the flag of ISIL facing the building of Arsal municipality in protest against the Army measures carried out in the town earlier today.

Army Intelligence units today raided a number of Syrian refugees' campsites in the Koura towns of Amioun, Kfar Hazir, and Dar Chmezzine, and arrested illegal residents.

A state security patrol managed to detain the Syrian (N. Alfandi) suspected to be contacting individuals accused of belonging to terrorist organizations.

It's worth noting that another Syrian was detained two days ago. The two were referred to concerned security sides to expand investigations with them before referring them to the competent judiciary.
