Lebanese Armed Forces logoThe Lebanese Armed Forces dismissed that new kidnapping operation have been carried out against soldiers on Sunday midnight in the north-eastern border areas with Syria, an army statement said Monday.

Rumors have been circulated on the social network websites, as well as certain news websites, claiming that Syrian militants kidnapped four Lebanese troops, including one officer, during an infiltration operation into one of the LAF posts in Brital eastern region.

Militants of the so-called 'Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant' (ISIL) terrorist group, who took refuge inside the Lebanese eastern town of Arsal escaping blows of the Syrian army inside Syria, had kidnapped 29 soldiers of the Lebanese security personnel in August 2014. Four of them have been executed so far, amid covert negotiations between the Lebanese government and the terrorist groups.

Lebanese security forces arrested last week the wives of two ISIL leaders, Abu Bakr Baghdadi and  Abu Ali Shishani while trying to pass the Lebanese-Syrian borders with fake IDs. The latter threatened to kill more of the hostages had his wife not set free.
