Lebanese Prime Minister Tammam Salam postponed Tuesday a cabinet session that was set to take place to pave way for more consultations and would tackle the government’s decision-making mechanism.

Speaker Nabih Berri and Progressive Socialist Party chief MP Walid Jumblatt had urged him to postpone the session. They wanted the consultations carried out by the different parties to pave way for agreements to facilitate the work of the government.

Lebanon had been plunged by waste crisis over the past week. Sukleen, the company in charge of garbage collection in Beirut and Mount Lebanon, resumed work early Tuesday after a deal was reached late night Monday.

The agreement was announced shortly before midnight by Environment Minister Mohammad Machnouk following two marathon meetings chaired by Salam at the Grand Serail and attended by the ministers of finance, interior, environment, energy, industry, agriculture, education and administrative development.
