African Union meetingThe African Union High-Level Panel for Egypt delegation comprises panel chairman Alpha Oumar Konare, the former Malian president, Festus Gontebanye Mogae, former president of Botswana and Dileita Mohamed Dileita, the former premier of Djibouti, sources at the Cairo airport told Anadolu Agency.

Egypt's state-run MENA news agency quoted a diplomatic source with the African Union as saying that the visit came at an invitation from Egyptian Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmi.

The delegation is scheduled to hold talks with Fahmi, Transitional Justice Minister Mohammad Amin al-Mahdi, Al-Azhar Grand Imam Ahmad al-Tayeb and Coptic Orthodox Pope Tawadros II.

The delegation will also meet with members of the electoral commission, according to committee's chief Abdel-Aziz Salman.

The African Union suspended Egypt's membership two days after the army ousted elected president Mohammad Mursi last year, a measure taken automatically by the pan-African body in the event of unconstitutional change of government in a member state.

Egypt completed the first phase of an army-imposed transitional roadmap in January by holding a referendum on an amended version of its 2012 constitution.

Egyptians will elect a new president on May 26-27, the second milestone of the roadmap that should be completed with parliamentary polls later this year.
