The meeting tackled the latest developments in the region, said a statement released by Hezbollah’s Media Relations on Wednesday.

The meeting was attended by the Iranian ambassador in Lebanon Mohammad Fatah Ali, the statement said.

The Iranian diplomat arrived in Beirut Tuesday for talks aimed at ending the four-year crisis in neighboring Syria.

Abdollahian met directly with Staffan de Mistura, the U.N. envoy to Syria at the Iranian Embassy in Beirut.

He left Beirut for Damascus later on Wednesday.
